The magic of found spaces

I have been spending a lot of time paying attention to the spaces and places that we hold dear, that we remember!  What I have found is that the places that are most impactful - are unpredictable.  They are unpredictable, they are human scale, they are transformative to the predictable spaces around them.  Their magic spills over.

Rarely are they places or spaces that can be recreated inside todays onerous zoning codes.

During a trip through Thomasville, Georgia recently (which will be far more regular now that we have a FSU Seminole in the family) I found one of these spaces.  An alley way tucked between two really awesome restaurants.  Jonah's and Liam's.

We need to be asking ourselves - which regulations, which setbacks, which requirements - really serve us? Which ones constrain us?  Let possibility, not fear drive our codes and regulations
